Exelca was bred by Wilkesbacka gård. She was linebred to the legendary Exelsjor (Aquinor-Eleonora) as she had him in second and third generation. Exelca had his wonderful neck and his great body. Exelcas sire Ciemny was by the Exelsjor-son Grojor and out of the Essaul-daughter Ciotka. Ciemny is a regional champion stallion and a sire of champions.
Exelcas dam Exessa (Exelsjor-Edessa) was a full-sister to Edjora, the dam of Kajora – 1982 US National Champion Mare. Exessas dam Edessa was a daughter of the great mare Ellora. Exelca was Exessas last offspring. Exessa was also the dam of the breeding stallions Espri (Espartero), Exeter (Probat) and Essex (Probat). Exessa was exported in 1995 to Germany.
Exelca was a small mare with great movements and a great body and neck. She was wonderful to ride and a great horse to handle.
Exelca got an injury in her hind leg that was inoperable and she was put to sleep in December 1998.
